Choose the correct visa route. Pick the right category before paying: Standard Visitor (up to 6 months), Student, Skilled Worker, or Family. Applying under the wrong route is a refusal regardless of your evidence.
Apply online at gov.uk. Complete the application at gov.uk/apply-uk-visa (not third-party sites). The Standard Visitor fee is £135 for up to 6 months; the Student Route and work routes cost more and add the Immigration Health Surcharge.

How much maintenance does the UK Student Route require?

For courses starting in 2025-2026, you must show £1,529/month × 9 months = £13,761 if studying in London, or £1,171/month × 9 months = £10,539 outside London, held in a qualifying account for a continuous 28-day period ending within 31 days of applying, in addition to first-year tuition if unpaid.
