Brazil vatandaşları United States için vizeye ihtiyaç duyar mı?
Evet.
Section 214(b) is wider than ties: a refusal means the officer was not convinced the applicant qualified for the visa. The most common route to that refusal is failing to convince the officer they are not an intending immigrant, and thin ties to Brazil are usually the evidence behind it, not the definition of it. There is no appeal, and the $185 fee is not refunded.
- Complete the DS-160 online. Fill out Form DS-160 at ceac.state.gov/genniv. Every answer must match your passport and documents exactly. Print the confirmation page with the barcode for your interview.
- Pay the $185 MRV application fee. Pay the machine-readable visa fee before scheduling; keep the receipt (valid 365 days). It is non-refundable. Budget separately for the $250 Visa Integrity Fee once the State Department begins collecting it at issuance (no implementation date published).
- Book your CASV and consular appointments. Use ais.usvisa-info.com to schedule your biometrics (CASV) and the interview. Compare wait times across São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Porto Alegre, and Brasília, and apply early, the big posts can run many months.
- Attend the interview and answer about your ties. The officer is assessing whether you qualify: a refusal under Section 214(b) means they were not convinced you did, and on visitor cases the doubt is usually about whether you will return to Brazil. Answer briefly and honestly about your work, studies, family, and trip, and bring evidence of ties. Lead with a clear, consistent story; the interview is short and credibility-driven.
- After approval: passport return and the I-94. If approved, your passport is returned with the visa via the courier option you chose. The visa (often 10-year) lets you travel TO a US port of entry; CBP sets your authorised stay on your I-94 at arrival. Check it at i94.cbp.dhs.gov and never overstay.
Sıkça sorulan sorular
Do Brazilian citizens need a visa to visit the United States?
Yes. Brazil is not part of the US Visa Waiver Program, so there is no ESTA for Brazilian passport holders, you need a B1/B2 visitor visa for tourism (B2) or business (B1). You apply through a US consulate in Brazil before travelling. Brazil operates five posts that handle visa applications: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Recife, Porto Alegre, and Brasília, all booked through the official ais.usvisa-info.com system.
How much does a US visa cost for Brazilians in 2026?
The B1/B2 application fee (the MRV fee) is $185 USD, paid before your interview and non-refundable whether or not the visa is approved; the receipt is valid for 365 days. A separate $250 Visa Integrity Fee was signed into law in July 2025 and will be charged at issuance, but as of September 2026 the State Department has not begun collecting it, so applicants currently pay the $185. Once collection begins the effective total rises to about $435. Confirm at travel.state.gov before paying.
How long is the wait for a US visa appointment in Brazil?
It depends heavily on the post, and you must check the live figure at travel.state.gov Global Visa Wait Times. In 2026 most Brazilian consulates have run around one to two months for a B1/B2 interview, but the busiest posts, São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, can stretch to six to twelve months. If your nearest post is backed up, compare the other consulates and watch for released earlier slots. After the interview, processing typically takes 3-4 weeks before your passport is returned.
How long is a US visa valid for Brazilians?
B1/B2 visas for Brazilian citizens are typically issued with 10-year validity and multiple entries, subject to reciprocity. Important: the visa's validity is not your permitted length of stay. Each time you travel, US Customs and Border Protection decides how long you may remain and records it on your I-94 (US regulations allow up to one year, and a B-2 tourist is normally admitted for at least six months). Always check your I-94 at i94.cbp.dhs.gov after entry and never overstay it, regardless of how many years the visa itself is valid.
Why are B1/B2 visas refused for Brazilian applicants?
Section 214(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act presumes every visitor-visa applicant intends to immigrate, and the applicant has to establish that they qualify for the visa they applied for. A refusal under it means the officer was not convinced of that, so a stronger ties picture is usually part of the answer, alongside a documented purpose and a funding story that holds together. A 214(b) refusal cannot be appealed, but you can reapply; only meaningfully stronger evidence changes the outcome. There is no fixed bank-balance requirement, and unexplained recent large deposits tend to hurt rather than help.
Can I skip the in-person interview (interview waiver)?
Usually only for certain renewals. From 1 October 2025 the State Department narrowed the interview waiver to, in general, applicants renewing a full-validity B1/B2 visa that expired within the last 12 months, who were at least 18 when the prior visa was issued, who apply in their country of nationality or residence, and who have never been refused. First-time applicants must attend an interview, and an officer can require one in any case.
