Nepal vatandaşları United States için vizeye ihtiyaç duyar mı?
Evet.
Section 214(b), the presumption that every visitor intends to immigrate, is the most common US visa refusal worldwide. First-time Nepali applicants who cannot show strong ties to Nepal are refused, there is no appeal, and the $185 fee is gone.
- Complete the DS-160 online. Fill out Form DS-160 at ceac.state.gov/genniv. Every answer must match your passport and documents exactly. Print the confirmation page with the barcode for your interview.
- Pay the $185 MRV application fee. Pay the machine-readable visa fee before scheduling; keep the receipt. It is non-refundable. Budget separately for the $250 Visa Integrity Fee once the State Department begins collecting it at issuance (expected before 30 Sept 2026), and for a possible refundable visa bond of $10,000 to $20,000, since Nepal is designated under the Visa Bond Program.
- Book your appointment at the US Embassy in Kathmandu. Use the official US visa appointment service for Nepal to schedule your biometrics and interview. Compare available dates and apply early, waits move with demand.
- Attend the interview and show your ties. The officer is assessing Section 214(b), whether you will return to Nepal. Answer briefly and honestly about your work, studies, family, and trip, and bring evidence of ties. Lead with a clear, consistent story.
- Post a visa bond, if the officer requires one. Nepal is one of the 50 countries designated under the Visa Bond Program, made permanent on 3 August 2026. If the officer finds you otherwise eligible and sets a bond, you post $10,000, $15,000, or $20,000 on DHS Form I-352 through Pay.gov, and the visa is issued once it is accepted. Keep the receipt and bond reference number for the refund.
- After approval: passport return and the I-94. If approved, your passport is returned with the visa via the courier option you chose. Read the annotation on the foil for your actual entries and validity, an unbonded B1/B2 is often 10-year multiple-entry, while a bonded visa carries much tighter terms. The visa lets you travel TO a US port of entry; CBP sets your authorised stay on your I-94 at arrival. Check it at i94.cbp.dhs.gov and never overstay. If you posted a bond, enter and exit through a commercial airport so your departure is recorded and the bond is returned.
Sıkça sorulan sorular
Do Nepali citizens need a visa to visit the United States?
Yes. Nepal is not part of the US Visa Waiver Program, so there is no ESTA for Nepali passport holders, you need a B1/B2 visitor visa for tourism (B2) or business (B1). You apply and interview at the US Embassy in Kathmandu before travelling.
How much does a US visa cost for Nepali applicants in 2026?
The B1/B2 application fee (the MRV fee) is $185 USD, paid before your interview and non-refundable whether or not the visa is approved. A separate $250 Visa Integrity Fee was signed into law in July 2025 and will be charged at issuance, but as of mid-2026 the State Department has not begun collecting it, so applicants currently pay the $185. Once implemented (expected before 30 September 2026) the effective total rises to about $435. Confirm at travel.state.gov before paying.
How long is the wait for a US visa appointment in Nepal?
It varies with demand, and you should check the live figure at the travel.state.gov Global Visa Wait Times tool for Kathmandu before planning. Apply at least two to three months before you intend to travel, and after the interview allow roughly 3-4 weeks for processing and passport return.
How long is a US visa valid for Nepali citizens?
This depends on whether a visa bond is attached. An unbonded B1/B2 is typically issued with multiple entries and up to 10-year validity, subject to reciprocity. Nepal is one of the 50 countries designated under the Visa Bond Program, so if the officer requires a bond, your visa carries a bond annotation and much tighter terms: under the pilot that meant a single entry, three-month validity, and a 30-day admission, and analyses of the permanent rule describe entries and validity following the reciprocity schedule within a three-to-twelve-month band. Read the annotation printed on your own visa foil rather than assuming the 10-year term. Either way, the visa's validity is not your permitted stay. Each time you travel, US Customs and Border Protection decides how long you may remain and records it on your I-94. Check it at i94.cbp.dhs.gov after entry and never overstay, because for a bonded traveller an overstay also forfeits the entire bond.
Do Nepali applicants have to post a US visa bond?
Possibly. Nepal was added to the US Visa Bond Program in January 2026, and on 3 August 2026 the State Department made the programme permanent by final rule and raised the amounts. A consular officer may require a refundable bond of $10,000, $15,000, or $20,000 as a condition of issuing a B1/B2 visa, with $15,000 as the default tier. It applies to visitor visas only, not to F-1 student or work visas, and it is raised only after the officer finds you otherwise eligible, so it never rescues a case refused under 214(b). You post it on DHS Form I-352 through Pay.gov, you must then enter and exit the US through a commercial airport, and you get the full amount back if you depart on time or timely file to extend or change status. Confirm Nepal's current designation at travel.state.gov before applying, because the country list is revised on a rolling basis.
Why are B1/B2 visas refused for Nepali applicants?
The dominant refusal is under Section 214(b) of the Immigration and Nationality Act. US law presumes every visitor-visa applicant intends to immigrate, and you must overcome that presumption by showing strong ties to Nepal, stable employment, studies, family, property, or a business, that compel your return. A 214(b) refusal cannot be appealed, but you can reapply; only meaningfully stronger evidence of ties changes the outcome. Be wary of agents who promise approval or coach false stories, inconsistencies are a fast refusal.
What happens at the interview, and how should I prepare?
The interview is short and credibility-driven. The consular officer is assessing Section 214(b), whether you will return to Nepal, and decides largely on how clearly and consistently you answer about your work, studies, family, and trip. Answer briefly and honestly, bring evidence of your ties, and make sure every answer matches your DS-160.
Can I skip the in-person interview (interview waiver)?
Usually only for certain renewals. From 1 October 2025 the State Department narrowed the interview waiver to, in general, applicants renewing a full-validity B1/B2 visa that expired within the last 12 months, who were at least 18 when the prior visa was issued, who apply in their country of nationality or residence, and who have never been refused. First-time applicants must attend an interview.
